How can I teach my cats to kill mice?

Okay so I live in the woods and I have two cats. They are 5-6 years old but they are in good shape. The thing is they don’t catch mice. One of my cats doesn’t do anything, and the other one will toy with a mouse for a while then set it free. Are my cats hopeless? Do I have to rely entirely on my humane mouse traps? If I were to get a 3rd cat, is there any way of knowing if it would help with my mice problem?
I couldn’t starve my cats. They are my spoiled babies (not wild).

At 5-6 years old, I would say that these cats are pretty much set in their ways by now. Not all cats are mousers. If you are thinking about a 3rd cat, I would go to a local shelter and tell them exactly what you are looking for. They should be able to recommend a top notch mouser from spending time with the cats in their care.
