What is the best way to keep slugs off my plate of cat food out?

I have a cat that lived in most of its life, she is 11. Since we brought our daughter home for almost a year since the cat has urinated in the house. We tried everything under child to get rid of the cat happy. Only we have to spend hundreds of dollars replacing part of our soil, due to cat urine. Unfortunately, I got the cat as a last resort. Has food, water, shelter, etc, but I can not keep slugs into all things. Suggestions? Slugs is beneficial? If I had to get rid of slugs, how I can do this without hurting my cat?

We had this problem with our cats and dogs. I put the dishes in a cake pan, then fill the cake with water. Snails not like water. Salt in a bowl of work too. The salt can kill a snail, but can also irritate your cat's feet. A number of snail bait that the excellent work. Just read the instructions and precautions on the label to make sure it will not hurt your cat.
