Is it safe for a stray cat in your house? or give a very bad disease?
theres this cat hanging around our house day and night. sleeping outside the door. and I feel soooo bad, especially when it starts raining. I do not think necessarily that of a stray dog over to the neighbors who have cats dumping. seems very good health. no visible damage or anything. you think it is safe to leave home? I know it probably has fleas, but I do not mind the battle. would u let it stay inside? oh yeah start to pee and poop to mark territory in the house?
Hi all, Before "adopt" this kitty, it is advisable check with your neighbors about this cat. While it is totally irresponsible for anyone to treat a cat in the manner you describe, leaving all night, especially in adverse weather conditions, the boundaries of cruelty to animals. But also do not want to be labeled as a cat "thief," and have someone sue you for "catnapping." It's very nice of you wanting to save the cat, and I congratulate you. But of course, you have no problems. I feel tempted to call animal control and the report of neglect, but the risk they take the pot and need to discover how you can legally adopt. Some rules Control animals are after a certain number of days to owner does not claim the animals, the "rescuer" can take. Be sure about the regulations. But if you're sure it was the "dumping" why not adopt and maintain inside. As diseases are concerned, would very smart of him to go to the vet for a checkup. You may need vaccinations, and to be castrated. You may have to as well, and should be treated. If they are inside, seal a room in your house to begin with, place a litter box in the room, a bowl of water and, of course, food. Keep food and water away from the trash as much as possible because cats do not want to eliminate about their food and water. Place a cardboard box in the room, covered with a towel. If there is a box you can find part of that coverage, the better. It will be a small "studio" for him. Visit as many as possible, but make sure you know how to use a litter before allowing you to wander around the house. I would keep him confined until the vet checks. The chips are still errors. That transmit diseases, and are the main vector of the tapeworm. Your veterinarian can check for fleas on him, and give you a treatment flea product that is usually applied once a month. Good luck with that cat, and I hope they can afford. You need someone as loving and caring as they seem. Hope this helps, Troublesniffer owned cats over 40 years, members: writer Cat Association
