Toy Holiday
Looking to teach my children about "giving" rather than "receiving" during the holiday season?

I am a mother 3 children 11, 9 and 3. I would like to move the focus away from "What will I get for Christmas" to "How I can help." Usually clean our closets and toy boxes to give before the holidays, but other than that, do not do much more. Is it something that your family is in the spirit of giving?

Well, I did for Santa to help a family that can be very poor and may even have a Christmas dinner. I also took an angel of the Angel Tree and bought things for that person. I know several families left for Thanksgiving (maybe move the family dinner to another day) Thanksgiving go to a shelter or soup kitchen or a restaurant that will offer Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless or the poor and helped there. Even doing a food drive project to collect food to give to local food banks can be significant. I have a friend who's family (who are Christians) are a set of birth where they put the baby Jesus until Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving and Christmas, try to do good deeds for others. Every good action is equivalent to a piece straw to put in the crib and want to try to make it more comfortable for the baby as possible. These acts can be done to others in the family or make people outside the family. And I'm sure it can be adapted to different religions, if you can be creative.
